MVPCUG Meeting Minutes MVPCUG General Meeting
Business Meeting The minutes as posted on the web of the November general meeting were approved by members present. Bill Gorrell gave the Treasurer's report. November income was $435.66; expenses were $449.96; the balance in the treasury as of 11/30/2002 was $5,008.82. The treasurer's report was accepted to be included with the minutes. Joe reported that there will be a Peter Trapp computer show on Saturday, December 7th. If members are looking to purchase gift items, this will be the only show before Christmas. Joe asked if everyone liked having coffee at the meetings. Most present replied in the affirmative. Joe asked for a volunteer to take charge of making the coffee. No one volunteered. Thanks go to Dave Askew for taking on the coffee assignment for the last two months in addition to heading the Food/Toy drive. Joe discussed the MVPCUG budget as printed in the Newsletter. Joe explained the efforts of the Board of Directors to accomplish a balance budget. Nick Dudish made the motion to accept the budget and all members approved. Presentation Richard Katz was the speaker the evening. His first presentation was to show the various features of Picture It Digital Image Pro. He then went on to show us the laptop that he had been using, flipping the screen around and closing the case backward to normal usage. Thus began his Tablet portion of the presentation. This new technology uses a pen with a coil inside and it can read handwriting as well as be used for drawing and as a mouse and keyboard. The technology consists of the tablet laptop, the digital pen, and Windows XP Tablet PC edition. After seeing Richard's demonstration everyone in the audience is going to put this on their Christmas wish list. To finish off the evening's presentation, Richard showed us the new Pocket PC that is wireless and can easily integrate with the laptop A coffee break was taken at 7:25.
